An early and rarely seen French Piqué cane with an ivory knob on its Malacca shaft with plain metal collar and bronze ferrule. The 2” tall cylindrical knob is finely decorated on the side & top with tortoise shell, gold and silver Piqué in a lace-like delicate design. The cane is from the beginning of the 18th century, in original condition. It shows age on all its parts and, because of its history of over two centuries, still can be described in fair condition. Overall length 34-1/2”.
